Coach Miles

For more than 10 years, I've dedicated my career to helping young people succeed, as an educator, a coach, a mentor and a youth development professional. Today I serve in youth development leadership, and that work still comes down to the same thing: showing up for kids and helping them believe in what they can do.

I grew up in Gwinnett County, and sports gave me discipline, confidence and people who pushed me to be better. I went on to run Division I track at Western Kentucky University, and I'm a certified NASM Youth Exercise Specialist, so every drill is planned around what growing bodies need.

I started Miles Ahead Athletics to give kids the kind of coaching I wish every child had: high energy, encouraging, and focused on real skills. I'm also a dad, so I know how much it matters that your child is safe, seen and having fun.

Questions

FAQ

Does my child need to play a sport already?

No. The program works for brand-new athletes and kids already on a team. Drills are adjusted so everyone is challenged at their own level.

How are kids grouped?

Athletes train in two groups: ages 7–10 and ages 11–14. Drills are scaled within each group by ability, so everyone is challenged at the right level.

Is strength training safe for young kids?

Yes, when it's done right. We use bodyweight movements and age-appropriate progressions based on youth exercise guidelines. There's no heavy lifting for younger athletes.

What should my child bring?

Athletic shoes, comfortable workout clothes and a full water bottle. Sessions are high-energy, so a light snack beforehand helps.

What is a 4-week cycle?

Training runs in blocks of four weeks, with two sessions each week. Training days are still being finalized and will be announced soon. Each cycle builds on the last, so kids can see their progress over time.

How much does it cost?

Membership is $120 per month for either age group, which works out to $15 per session. A drop-in session is $18, so members save $24 a month compared to eight drop-ins.

Is there a sibling discount?

Yes. Families with more than one athlete get 10% off each additional child, so a second child is $108 per month.

Can we try a session first?

Yes. A drop-in session is $18 and is a good way to see if the program is a fit before signing up for a cycle.

Where are sessions held?

We serve families in Suwanee, Grayson and Lawrenceville in Gwinnett County. The training location for upcoming cycles will be shared with families on the interest list and posted on our Instagram and Facebook pages.

Is there a waiver?

Yes. A parent or guardian needs to complete our online waiver before their child's first session, including drop-ins. It takes about two minutes.
